What I love about North Texas Giving Day.

My family and I have lived in Fort Worth for most of my life, and each September, I admire the energized giving and philanthropy that sweeps through our city. Non-profits addressing a variety of needs in our community provide empowering solutions to those who need it most, and we all have the chance to partake in their missions with them.

When we started Unbound Now, we foresaw a community in which human beings are not for sale. Like many of you, I was stirred by the stark reality that in our state, 79,000 youth and minors are victims of sex trafficking. As we started working with law enforcement, schools, hospitals, and prosecutors, we began finding these victims, one at a time. Through the years, each of their stories of resilience has motivated me and my family to embrace this work.

Today, we feel undeservingly grateful to be a small part of these stories. Just this year, our staff have walked alongside 1,200 clients, many of whom have recently escaped human trafficking.

On North Texas Giving Day, we invite you to come to the the Grove at Waterside to spend time with our staff and their families and our law enforcement and prosecutorial partners. We’ll be serving ice-cream sundaes and have fun games for kids as we recount the goodness of God and prepare to reach those who are still waiting to experience lasting freedom.

God bless you,

Stephanie Byrd, J.D.
