UnBound Cape Town is committed to working with the church and community to see human trafficking defeated.
Because Cape Town is a global city and the tourism capital of the world, it is both a sending and receiving city of trafficking victims. On average, four people are brought into illegal trafficking everyday in South Africa, and one of those four is a child. Further, traditional customs allow forced marriage, which has become another means to traffic women and children.
We focus on advocating for survivors of human trafficking. We do this by connecting with survivors and helping them with translation through the legal process. Further, we help them transition back into “normal life” and encourage and walk with them through the challenges of that adjustment. Our desire is for survivors to experience holistic integration back into society and advocate for them to receive necessary care. Survivors are waiting for us to step up and be people they can count on during this transitional time in their lives.
